The Buddy Werner Championship (BWC) is the Pacific Northwest Ski Association’s Regional Championship for J4-J5 Competitors (9 to 12 years old).  It is held in March and  is hosted by a different  PNSA team each year (rotating between WA-OR-ID).  J4 Athletes competing at the BWC become eligible for selection to the Western Region J4 Festival based on their individual results.

This is an “Invitational Race” and each PNSA team is allowed to enter a maximum of 7 boys and 7 girls who are qualified through each individual program’s selection process.  MBRT will qualify skiers by timing them on a course sometime in January.

The BWC consist of two consecutive days of racing.  One day will be Slalom and the other Giant Slalom. Whenever possible, an extra day shall be added to the events as a training day.  Separate courses shall be provided for boys and girls.

The BWC is an exciting and fun event for the young competitors and helps J4′s transition to J3 race. The event focus’s on the execution of high quality and fair races.  To make this a special event, hosting organizations typically include Event and Team Photos, T-Shirts/Sweatshirt sales, Athlete souvenirs, Opening Ceremonies and Banquet Dance.   This is a highlight event of the J4/J5 MBRT racer and rarely does anyone pass on the invitation.
